Tuesday July 11, 2006
Every once in a while we need to push the "spiritual restart button" and remind ourselves of the basics of our faith. Maybe you are going through a dry seasons in your Christian walk? Try one of these faith building spiritual refreshers to help you make a new start today!

I’ve talked in the past about my current spiritual state. How I feel lost and abandoned. I recently learned that this feeling has a name. St. John of the Cross called it The Dark Night of the Soul.
Apparently, it’s when you find yourself no longer moved by the things that once stirred your heart as a Christian. Some have compared it to being in a desert, the soul is parched and thirsting. This state can lead to a more meaningful prayer life, but it can also lead to a shattered faith.
Richard J. Foster in his book entited Prayer says that the best thing to do when you are in this state is to not try to move forward or jump start your spiritual engine, but just be still. God is still with you and has not abandoned you. Let Him work in your life and you will emerge a stronger Christian.
It’s true, Zec. We often get in the way.
Psalm 46:10
“Be still, and know that I am God …”
I HAVE NOT BEEN A GOOD STEWARD OF THE WAGES THAT GOD HAS GIVEN ME. I CAN BEARLY MAKE IT FROM CHECK TO CHECK. I AM A SINGLE MOTHER OF THREE BOYS AND I OWE JUST ABOUT EVERY BODY. MY CAR HAS RECENTLY BEEN REPOSSESED AND TODAY I WAS INFORMED BY OUR PAYROLL OFFICER THAT THERE WILL BE A GARNISHMENT OFF MY PAYCHECK OF 25 PERCENT PER PAY PERIOD WITH THE TOTAL BEING 4026.00. IT HAS TOTALY MADE ME SICK. I LOVE THE LORD MY GOD WITH ALL MY HEART AND I ASKED HIM WHAT CAN I DO TO MAKE IT. AND I FOUND YOU AND YOU GAVE ME THIS SCRIPTURE THAT ANSWERS MY QUESTION FOR ME TO BE STILL AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD.
