World Trade Center is Spiritual

Wednesday August 2, 2006
I have to admit, I am intrigued by the trailers of World Trade Center, and I do want to go see the film. I know it will be intensely emotional. It will reveal the unmeasurable destructive potential of evil and the unstoppable spirit of men filled with faith, hope and love. I expect a film about one of the most deeply tragic events in our history to reveal powerful glimpses of God. World Trade Center tells the true story of John McLoughlin and William J. Jimeno. They were two of the last survivors pulled from Ground Zero because they would not give up their courageous fight to rescue those trapped in the rubble.

According to David Bruce of Hollywood Jesus, the World Trade Center movie to be released in theatres next Wednesday, August 9, is a spiritual film. He said, "In the midst of unimaginable horror there can be a profound sense of divine presence. [Oliver] Stone’s film brings to mind the famous Hebrew shepherd’s poem, 'Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for thou art with me.'"

What do you think? Do you feel a film just five years after 9/11 is too soon? Are the memories too painful and the images too horrifying to relive? Or do you believe a film will pay tribute to those who died and honor the heroes of 9/11. Could it help our nation heal? I'd love to hear your comments below.

I’m a New Yorker. I smelled the fires for weeks after the attacks. I looked down at the site from the Federal courthouse and saw what had been two huge buildings. How could I not see the movie. I sat glued to the TV for days after it happened. It’s in part the story of the best in my city.

I was so inspired of watching WTC movie at the theatre. I realized how wonderful it is important to watch and know their testimonies. I thought that it is just a story about the twin towers and loss of the people. I don’t know about two hero men, John and Will. I tried to hold inside my heart to cry and cried a little for almost one hour or 1 1/2 hours while watching a movie. I said, “Praise the Lord, Jesus” two times in sign language. I was glad that the Lord heard their prayers as they talked to God. I was glad that Will saw a vision of Jesus to let him know that He protected him and saved his life later. Thank the Lord for sending a marine man to go and saved their lives. I told my husband about this very good movie. He realized. He, my children and a friend will go there soon. I will tell some Deaf people at the church about this and encourage them to watch this movie soon. Blessing, Susanne Rivera
