Hi, Ms. Mary!
Thank you for such a wonderful blog!
You’re welcome!
Funny.. Christmas isn’t even mentioned in the Bible. Go figure…
Christmas is never mentioned! JP is correct! Speak the truth bruh!
Christmas is a pagan holiday adopted from the Romans. Greed, Lust, and Selfishness are some of it’s greatest attributes.
Before the birth of The Messiah, The Romans had a pagan feast called ’saturnalia’ that was observed during the early part of winter, what we now call ‘December’, and its heathen feast and practices fell towards the end of the month.
As a result of Roman Catholicism connecting church and state around the year 313 A.D., the secular and religious became in many instances one issue. It is from this point in history that we begin to witness many pagan and lurid rituals and activities that became lot and parcel of ’so-called’ Christianity.
All your info. is correct about
Christmas being a pagan holiday.
I can only say that this time of
the year is a time or should be a
time for families to come from far away
to be together. Sometimes this is the
only time a mother will hear her son’s voice.
I use this holiday to remind me of how really sweet my family fellowshiip in the Lord is.
We should all know the baby Jesus was born mid-October, but people just celebrate it in
December. I wonder if this holiday will soon
be dismissed by the pagans. I wonder…….
According to the Bible, Luke 2:7, Mary gave birth to her firstborn, Jesus. In Matthew 2:1, it also states that Jesus was born in Bethlehem, Judea. Everyone came to worship Him and to bring Him gifts, for they heard that the Messiah was born. This is why we see shephards and the wisemen and Mary and Joseph, and baby Jesus(although recently I’ve seen some take baby Jesus out and leave them surrounding an empty bed of hay)under christmas trees. And it’s very true that Christmas has been paganized. Some have turned it into a vain and materialistic holiday, concerned about receiving the best gifts, thus where their true joy of Christmas comes from. Others see it as a time to reunite with family, which is crutial and we definately should do this; however, it is not the full joy of Christmas. The true joy of Christmas is celebrating the messiah, the Savior of the world’s birth.
Christmas is not mentioned in the bible but the birth of Jesus is we celebrate Christmas to be celebrate the birth of our savior. Christmas is for giving not for getting bt people have gotten the wrong idea about it and it now seems to be the other way around. It like a birthday party for Jesus.
Thank you each one of you for your unique points of view. I am not a Christian. This holiday season I have been on a quest to explain the reason for gift giving which seems to have gotten out of hand in the United States.
Is it from the European Sinta Klaus and the Zwarte Piet? Or is it the Majin bearing gifts? Seems to me North Americans have messed things up once again. If Jesus was born in October and Sinta Klaus (his death) is celebrated on December 6 we are wrong on both counts for celebrating on December 25.
Retailers have the public where they want us.
Consumerism is not dead.
To Mr. Tom,
I would appreciate if you stop insulting our Bible and our religion. Keep your own opinions and insults to yourself.
If you do not care about the TRUE meaning of Christmas, then do not leave your comments. It’s not the name we follow, it’s the meaning of the day, be it December, October or March!
At least we do not follow the moon to know when our Eid ( holidays) are!
So please, keep your mouth shut and May our Lord Jesus Christ forgive you.
And for all of you who are wondering what the word Christmas Means ( and not back in the roman days), check out the meanig of Christ- Mass!
Go figure it out. It doesnt take a high IQ to understand it.
Thanks Mary for the links! Keep it up!
Zena –
You’re welcome. I deleted Tom’s comment as it was in violation of our user agreement.
I appreciate everyone’s comments on the most part. From what I understand, Christmas is both a pagan and religious holiday. The early catholics in trying to combat the parties and things going on from the Winter Festivals that were celebrated toward the end of Dec., started to celebrate the birth of Christ. Santa Claus did come from the catholic saint of St. Nicholas, pronounced differently in different parts of the world. He started to leave gifts for the poor, widowed and needy. I don’t think we can really pinpoint when Jesus was born. Some scholars think it was in the spring. None of that matters. But, I think we should be honest about what we are celebrating. Like, focussing on the lavish gifts, feasts, and parties, spending money we don’t have to get the toy of the year and justify it by claiming to celebrate Christmas. Christmas is celebrating the birth of Jesus, the gifts are to represent the gifts given to our savior, and our gift from God of His Son. Family and friends coming together from far places represents the distance of the wise men and shephards traveled to see the Christ Child. Satan has taken everything about it to distract us from being humble and thinking of the less fortunate and thanking God for such an awesome gift. It’s in your heart. All we can do is share the love that was given on that day. That’s what I believe it is and should be all about.
i’wold like to thank zena to defend the christianity and bible ..god take who insult the religions and stay in the dark life
Christmas is the day that Christ was born, thats why we celebrate it. So yes, it is mentioned in the bible.
Your not gonna find the world’s view of Christmas in the bible, which is getting tons of presents and still wanting more. You’ll find God’s Christmas in the bible, the birth of Jesus, his one and only son, from a virgin.
Christmas is not mentioned in the Bible because it wasn’t a holiday then. I am a Christian and often torn by this issue. I want to celebrate my Savior’s birth. But Christmas WAS adopted from the pagan holiday.
Please don’t miss the point. Read your bible and pray that the Lord provide clarity and illumination of the scripture for you. Taking someone else’s word (myself included) is not only foolish, but your soul rests on it…Read Romans (3:4)
CHRISTMAS is not in the bible and should not be celebrated. It is a pagan holiday as many have pointed out prior. The bible tells us throughout the old and new testament (Jerm 10:1-10, Duet 12:29-32)the danger about learning the way of the heathern and false worhsip. Taking something that was not meant for GOD and applying it to GOD does not mean GOD honors that worship. In fact, the bible tells us that the workship is in vain (Amos 5:18-22, Math 15). In Exodus 32, we see that God didn’t accept the worship of the Golden Calf as worship directed to Him despite Aaron proclaiming a “Feast to the Lord” (verse 5) would occur the next day. Not only is this wrong, but it provokes the wrath of the LORD!
Here is the grace- It is not to late to repent, and turn away from this vain worship, to ask God to truly reveal himself to you.
You see as christians, we need not celebrate the birth of Christ, but the death and RESURRECTION
of Christ. That is where our salvation, hope, joy and peace come from.
Mary-although this was a good attempt to try to bring God into this pagan holiday, I pray that God speaks to you (and us all) about worshiping in sprit and in truth. He is the ONE TRUE GOD, and will not accept second place to the customs of religion and this world.
Christmas may have originated from a pagan celebration, but the church was going through it’s early phase of adopting the Gospel as it’s rule of life. It is natural for anyone to “CONVERT” all of their practices to what they now truly believe. I see christmas as a celebration that ended the pagan celebration of the romans and CONVERTED it into the celebration of the one true God who loved us so much that he came to be born into this world. AND I WILL CELEBRATE SUCH AN OCCASION!
I agree with DG & Richard Hartzel, a true Christian should not celebrate Christmas. It is not Biblical and it is derived from saturnalia – pagan way of worship and feast of romans. I realized many false teachings which are not biblical. what do you think about “santa claus” acting like he knows every child’s attitude- its satans deception and a blasphemy to God. (Psalm 139:1-4)
Hello Everyone, Its so late and I was so very curious about Christmas and halloween, Its had been long time that is bothering me and found you all here.. Please pardon my lanuage, because English is my second lanuage.
I agree very much with Roi and Dg and Richard, they sound very much true. In my conscience, I have been thinking and how does the Jesus’s birth of date and birthday celerations not in Bible at all and I kept resceaching to finding it out myself.. If those months of May, Sept, Oct and Dec. In my thought: The month of May is so close to April when Jesus was Killed “Memorial”; October, we celerate halloween, and in December, Santa Claus are very strong example to cover Jesus’s birth.
Those things must be satan works and insulting God and his son, Jesus.. Long ago, I saw one of scipture that saids. God himself hate celerbates but to keep memorial of Jesus is a Must..
There are only two people that against God are Herod Matt.14:6-10 which chopped John, the baptist, head off and Pharoaoh”s Genesis chapter 40 his birthday celerations out of whole Bible book. Where is Jesus, There is none except for Passover..
Christmas is so nice but too stressful for us and blinding us through devils works.. 2 Cor 4:4
I am not christian but I am self spiritually and reading Bible between me and Jehovah, Psalms 83;18 and then finding the right place for me to worships or to believe in the truth. Ofc God fearing!!
I am but a young teenager of 14 years, and I just spent about 5 minutes reading everyone’s comments. I, too, am a christian of four years and proud to be. when I was younger, I use to (and still sometimes do) get mad at people who offended my religion, and the reason being because I didn’t know how to defend it. I soon discovered that it was absolutely and completely useless to try and defend my mighty God. I was soon question for my change of attitude, and i replied, “who am I to defend a God so great. The one who created the heavens and the earth. For my place in this demon world is simply making sure that the truth gets around.” while trying saying this, one of my friends had stopped to listen, and noted that she was far less interested in this than the non-believer I had been talking to in the first place. a little while after it hit me, the holy spirit was using me as a communicator (being one of my spiritual gifts). It also occurred to me that I need to go talk to my friend about the Lord.
Zena, I realize you were just trying to defend our religion, but… did you ever think about whether or not he would have been interested in learning about this kind of stuff. my now amazing friend, who had questioned me about my new behavior was just like Mr. Tom, but after using my spiritual gifts with her, I changed her life completely. Even now, one of my I-don’t-know-if-we-are-friends-anymore friends, we are going through a lot of contrasts and confusion and arguments. After asking many, many people on what to do, it all comes down to praying. Next time you encounter someone like Mr. Tom, think, “WWJD?”. (translation) What would Jesus do?
Please don’t allow me to move and boss you around, but what you said to Mr. Tom probably offended him in a great amount. But not only him, I too was offended. all I ask is, please learn to use what the Holy spirit has provided you with and don’t try to defend christianity. i told my sister something, and maybe this will help, cause she’s going through something similar God is big boy, he needs no help.
I’ll pray for all of you, for health and endurance of this demon place. I also pray that we all may see that god is by us at all times and the little tiny problems that occur are taken care.
One last thing, every time you let a small insignificant thing in the way of your relationship with God, you are just letting satan get ahold of you more easily.
goo luck Zena and remember to pray… LOTS!!!
I love you all in Christ’s name.
Have yourself a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
