Christian Funeral Planning and Preplanning
Friday April 13, 2007
I had the opportunity for many years to help coordinate the funerals at my church. I considered it a privilege to serve our church families during their time of great need. I knew these individuals were hurting, emotionally drained, and physically depleted of strength at a time when they needed to plan one of the most difficult events of their life. Guiding them through the process was an honor for me and the families were always grateful for the help.
Those experiences with funeral coordination equipped me to put together these practical and spiritual guides. They are designed to alleviate some of the burden and offer well-defined steps for planning and preplanning a Christian funeral service.
Also:

My cousin is on the funeral committee of her synagogue and she considers it a great mitzvah to be of help at such times. There is a Jewish tradition called chevrah kedoshah, holy fellowship, made up of men and women whose job is to prepare the deceased for burial, cleaning the body and reciting psalms. The chevrah is made up of the most devoted and loving members of the congregation because preparing the deceased is considered a very good deed.
I’m glad you’re on this committee because it suits you. You are a giving and loving human being.
Karen –
Thanks.
I was in charge of coordinating the weddings and funerals of my church for a period of about seven years. I much preferred the funerals. A grieving loved one is much easier to deal with than a Bridezilla.
