This Week's Bible Story: Noah's Ark and the Flood
Wednesday July 18, 2007
This week we'll take a look at the Old Testament account of Noah's Ark and the Flood. I've provided a brief summary of the story and the Scripture reference where the story can be found in the Bible. For those who want to go further in their study, I have also highlighted a few interesting points from the story, and included a question for reflection.
Over the years, many skeptics and scholars have debated the validity of this biblical tale involving a huge ark and a catastrophic flood. Many have questioned: Was the ark real or figurative? How could two of all of the earth's creatures fit on one vessel? Could a flood truly have covered the entire earth, destroying every living creature?

In modern times researchers continue to look for evidence of Noah's Ark. Some of the arguments and evidences for a flood can be found in these articles:
- Joe Kovacs from © WorldNetDaily.com discusses the "Ararat Anomaly" and how a recently released satellite image of Mt. Ararat in eastern Turkey has refueled interest in the ongoing search for Noah's Ark.
- Jonathan Sarfati & Creation Ministries International gives a rebuttal to Mark Isaak’s “Problems with a Global Flood.”

These articles about the Flood are fascinating reading. As a boy I remember finding fossils of tiny marine clams in a pile of limestone gravel at my grade school. How did they get there, in the middle of North America, thousands of miles from the ocean?
There’s an interesting theory that the word “gopherwood” in the account of the Ark’s construction was a mistranslation. Some think it actually was a term for a type of ancient cement–that would have been poured over a reed boat to make it seaworthy.
I think the bottom line on Noah’s Ark is that skeptics have more questions than answers. They can’t definitively DISprove the Ark. If the true Noah’s Ark is ever found, it will turn the scientific world–as well as many nonbelievers–upside down.
GOD TOLD NOAH TO BUILD AN ARK. THE BIBLE SAYS THIS HAPPENED, WHY DO SKEPTICS AND SO CALLED SCHOLARS NOT CONSIDER THAT GOD HAD A HAND IN THIS GREAT UNDERTAKING TASK THAT HE HAD NOAH DO. JUST BECAUSE SCIENCE SAYS THIS OR THAT IS NOT POSSIBLE FROM THE SCIENTIFIC VIEW, ARE THEY FORGETTING THAT SCIENCE WOULDN’T BE POSSIBLE WITHOUT GOD? FROM GATHERING THE ANIMALS, TO FINDING A PLACE TO PUT THEM ON THE ARK, FEEDING THEM, WATERING THEM WHEN THERE WAS NOTHING AROUND BUT SALT WATER, TO RELEASING THEM WHEN THE ARK CAME TO REST. GOD HAD A HAND IN EVERYTHING THAT NOAH AND HIS FAMILY DID, THEY DID NOT DO IT ALONE. WHEN PEOPLE DO DOCUMENTARIES ON NOAH’S ARK, I WISH THAT THEY WOULD AT LEAST MENTION THAT GOD HELPED NOAH. SKEPTICS TELLING PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT FAMILIER WITH THE BIBLE, ABOUT NOAHS FLOOD WILL GO TO THEIR GRAVE NOT KNOWING THE TRUE STORY. COME ON SKEPTICS,SCIENTIST, AND SCHOLARS, SPEAK OUT FOR GOD ONCE IN A WHILE.
I’ve got it. god magically built the ark. magically made all the animals appear – not eat each other and for most species have a breeding program on board. then magically supplied all the food and water and magically cleaned up after them without a single death or any disease. then as most animals weren’t even discovered destroyed all documented evidence that they existed. forget about plant life. no evidence needed. stupid scientists it was all magic. der!
