Prayers for the Miners in Utah
Friday August 17, 2007
My heart is just sick this morning with the latest news in the search mission for the six men missing in the Crandall Canyon mine. Three rescue workers were killed last night and at least six others injured trying to get to the trapped miners.
This setback must be extremely devastating to the families who have already agonized through 12 days of waiting. So, with a heavy heart I encourage readers to join with me in continued prayer for this search and rescue mission.

Dear Lord,
We come into your holy presence with our hearts burdened for the trapped Utah miners, and for their families, friends, and everyone in the community working in the rescue efforts. We ask that you would be a strong tower of refuge for the loved ones waiting for news. Please keep them from despairing and keep them in your care. We are moved by the sacrifice of so many rescue workers, and we pray for your unceasing comfort and unfathomable grace toward the families who have now suffered the ultimate loss. We pray for your divine intervention. We ask for your will to be done on Earth as it is in heaven. We trust in your unfailing love. Amen.
