I read Robert Whitlow's book version of The List several years ago, not long after the novel was published. The movie, while not as gripping as the book plot, still fulfills FoxFaith's mission of providing quality, faith-based Christian entertainment with a serious message. A genuine "Christian" movie, I have no trouble labeling The List safe for any audience. There is no offensive language, no violence, no sex, and no drugs. (There are a couple of scenes showing adult men and women drinking alcoholic beverages.)

With the intrigue of a hundred-year-old secret society, a vast fortune in hoarded treasure, an ancient prophecy, a trail of mysterious deaths, and an evil blood covenant, the movie falls within the genre of suspense drama. Disturbed by the news of his father's sudden death, Renny Jacobson is stunned to learn that his millionaire dad has left him nothing but a cryptic "Covenant List" and a few clues to follow. His search for the truth leads to a dark path of deception and murder. Renny's desire for wealth and power threatens to destroy his very soul, while a quiet Christian woman fights in earnest prayer to help him find his way. The power of prayer over the forces of evil is the predominant theme of the film. (Rated PG)

(1) Jonathan says:

I thought the movie was well done: good acting and filming; however, I thought the story (at least in this movie version) was anticlimactic. The conflict builds as the tension and spiritual warfare mount, then with the drawing of a cross on a window and an angry declaration, the conflict is over and everyone lives happily ever after. I had more lofty imagininations that included the demise of the cult and a more resounding, spiritually-powerful victory that focused on personal redemption and the blood of Christ overcoming the blood covenant of this cult. In summary, it was interesting, but disappointing. There are much better, more satisfying Christian films out there.
