Happy 90th Birthday Billy Graham!

Today Christian evangelist Billy Graham celebrates his 90th birthday. He is best known for his worldwide evangelistic crusades preaching the message of Christianity to more people than anyone in history. The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) reports, "nearly 215 million people in more than 185 countries" have been reached through his ministry. In his lifetime, he has led many thousands to make a decision to receive Jesus as personal Savior and to live for Christ.

Graham was raised on a dairy farm in Charlotte, North Carolina. In 1943 he married Ruth McCue Bell, daughter of a Christian missionary surgeon in China. On June 14, 2007, Billy Graham said goodbye to his beloved wife, who passed away at age 87. He and Ruth had three daughters (including Anne Graham Lotz, Christian author and speaker), two sons (including Franklin Graham, who now runs his association), 20 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

“Every day is a gift from God, no matter how old we are," Graham said in a press release. "I have discovered that just because we grow weaker physically as we age, it doesn’t mean that we must grow weaker spiritually. In fact, we ought to be growing stronger spiritually because our eyes ought to be on eternity and Heaven—on the things that really matter.”

As a way of honoring this remarkable man and celebrating his 90th birthday, Billy's son Franklin is asking anyone who has been touched by Graham's ministry to share their story and a birthday wish. To send Billy Graham a birthday message, visit this page.

(1) Louise Spikes says:

Billy Graham is the most respected man alive. I have respected him all my life. I am looking for his Thanksgiving Prayer that I just heard on TV read by Ann. I wanted to make a copy for each of the ladies in my Sunday School class. I am teaching Sunday. Lesson is about David’s final days and his Psalms about how he had depended on the Lord for security all his life and also in the end days.

Louise & Christine –

I hope you both found the transcript of Billy Graham’s Thanksgiving prayer. I have been busy with family for the past few days … sorry I couldn’t be of more help!
