Time For a Be-Attitude Adjustment?

Most Bible scholars would agree that among other rich teachings, the beatitudes present us with a clear picture of what it means to be a true disciple of God. The beatitudes come from the opening verses of the famous Sermon on the Mount delivered by Jesus and recorded in Matthew 5:3-12. Here Jesus states several blessings, each beginning with the phrase, "Blessed are ..." These proverb-like sayings are packed with meaning and worthy of thorough study. So, I thought a refresher course in the beatitudes of Jesus would be a good place to start my personal Bible study at the beginning of this year.
