Alaska Inside Passage Cruise
One year ago, my husband and I were preparing to go on the journey of a lifetime—a seven-day Alaska Inside Passage cruise hosted by Dr. Charles Stanley.

We had dreamed of taking this trip ever since we were married. Sailing in Alaska, with its exotic wildlife, enduring sunsets, long-trailing waterfalls, and one of the most magnificent coastlines in the world, turned out to be a voyage like no other. By pairing our Alaska adventure with a Christian cruise, we had a truly unforgettable Christian vacation experience!

Catering to Christian guests, our ship, the mid-size ms Zaandam of the superior Holland America Line, had all of its bars and casinos closed, offering Bible studies, Christian music concerts, comedy, inspirational speakers and seminars as on board "entertainment," as well as a church service.

We are planning on going on this cruise this year and wondering what to wear for the formal dinners and on the dog sledding shore excursion? any must have items to take? do we need sunscreen bug spray? we are just really clueless as to what to pack…Everything just says dress in layers

Get ready for a treat! For the formal dinner I wore a dressy top and slacks (I didn’t take a dress) and my husband wore dress pants, a dress shirt and a blazer (he didn’t take a tie). Some people were a little more formal than us, and some were a little more casual.

I can’t help with the dog sledding shore excursion, as we didn’t go on that one. We had warmer than usual weather and didn’t need to layer that much in the ports. But this summer may be different. I recommend either calling Templeton for more information or contacting the the excursion company. You could try looking online to see if they have more details about what to wear and what to bring.

Also, you might try visiting the About.com Cruise forum and ask about it there.
