Bible Feasts and Holidays

The Old Testament Bible feasts and holidays, according to Paul in Colossians 2:16-17, were a shadow of the things to come through Jesus Christ. As Christians, we may not commemorate these feasts and holidays in the traditional sense, but as we discover the significance of each, we will certainly gain a greater knowledge of God's Word, an improved understanding of the Bible and a deeper relationship with the Lord.

There were nine major holidays and Sabbath days instituted by God in the Old Testament. Seven of these were appointed feasts, meant to be a sacred time when the Israelites met with God. Three of these seven appointed feasts were pilgrimage feasts, when all Israelite males were required to appear before the Lord at the temple in Jerusalem. Here we will take a look at each feast from a Christian perspective, explaining the biblical basis, traditional observances, seasons, facts, and an interesting section revealing the fulfillment of the Messiah, Jesus Christ through each of the feasts.
