Tony Dungy is a former professional football player and retired coach for the Indianapolis Colts. Not only was he one of the most respected and popular NFL coaches in the league, colleagues and friends considered him to be a family man of great faith and Christian character. During seven years of this decade, he was head coach for the Indianapolis Colts, and in 2007, he became the
first African American coach to win a Super Bowl.
Dungy published his first book (a bestselling memoir), Quiet Strength, in 2007, and Uncommon: Finding Your Path to Significance in February 2009. In the midst of a successful career, Dungy suffered a terrible loss and family tragedy in December 2005 when his 18-year-old son, James, committed suicide.
