Jesse's Turn Around

Turn Around Christian Testimony

By Jesse Hale

Jesse had always believed in Jesus, but as he matured he grew apart from God. A failed marriage and a broken heart finally caused him to turn around, back to the Lord. Then after an almost fatal car wreck, Jesse decided to live each day for Christ. Now he shares how Jesus Christ has changed his life.

Jesse's true story is one of many uniquely featured testimonies from you, the members and visitors of this site. Each story reveals a life transformed by Christian faith. My Life Before Christ

All my life I have believed in God and believed that Jesus died on the cross for my sins. I prayed as a kid and knew that God was watching over me and my family.

At age 13, I started smoking pot and drinking. Over time this became my "weekend thing." Then it ended up being my "every other day" experience as well. Throughout those years I grew apart from God. I still believed but I didn't worship. I didn't make a habit of praying, but only if I needed something.

Realizing My Need for Christ

I got married and thought I had a wonderful relationship with my wife, until one day she left. That broke my heart. I did everything in my power to change the way she felt towards me. I seemed only to push her further away. I didn't wait on the Lord. I tried to do it all myself. Psalm 27:14 says, "Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord." (NIV) But that is not what I did.

Accepting Christ as My Lord and Savior

As a result of my wife leaving me, I made a decision to turn around. I knew nothing I did would prosper without Jesus Christ. I knew in my heart that through him, I could do anything. Philippians 4:13 says, "I can do everything through him who gives me strength." (NIV)

On July 28, 2005, a friend called and began talking with me about God. He asked if I knew Jesus. I said yes, but that I would like to know him better. That is when I prayed and asked Jesus into my heart.

Ways Christ Changed My Life

For a while I was doing really well until I backslid a few times. I started thinking it was okay to drink a beer every now and then, until one day I was extremely upset and found myself giving into temptation. I had a beer that led to a 30-pack. I about got killed in a car wreck.

The Lord definitely had his hands on me and the people I hit. I totaled both my car and the car I hit. I injured myself and three other people.

From then on I have tried to live for the Lord only. He has blessed me abundantly and the point of my life is to serve Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. Every day I put the armor of God on and stand firm against evil. It is hard and I do fall at times, but I try to dust myself off and keep going.

Knowing that Jesus died on the cross for my sins and that I have a personal relationship with Him brings me the most astounding feeling in this world.

What Christ is Teaching Me Now

  • 1 John 4:4 says, "The one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world." (NIV)
  • James 1:2-3 says, "Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." (NIV)
  • Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." (NIV)
  • Galatians 5:22-23 says, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control." (NIV)
Christ is teaching me these virtues and so much more. I give God the glory for everything that he has done and everything that is to come. Thank you, Jesus!
