Are you that person?
You think you might be, but you’re not sure. Just being on this site makes you feel a little strange. You have nothing against Christians; it’s just that going to church and all the other stuff they do never held much interest for you.
Over the course of your life, you've tried a lot of different things, but none of them have worked. There were times when you thought you’d found the answer, but it always ended in disappointment.
You've given up trying to make sense of things. Life seems pretty pointless, like a big pinball machine, with you being the ball, batted back and forth, up and down, getting close to something worthwhile only to have it slip away. After years and years of that, you just don’t have the energy to try any more. Might as well just drift along and try to protect yourself the best you can.
Those Christians, at least the ones you know, don’t seem to be catching any breaks either. They have cancer and heart attacks just like everybody else. They get laid off from their jobs or get divorced or have kids who get hooked on drugs. God doesn't seem to be giving them problem-free lives either.
So why do they stick with it? You've tried praying, but it didn't change anything. God didn't come swooping down from heaven to perform any miracles for you. You've never read the Bible, so you don’t know much about Jesus—just stuff you've seen in movies. You do know that Christians believe he’s God and that he rose from the dead.
You've always found that part of it hard to swallow. Maybe he was a wise teacher or a good man, like the people who started other religions, but the idea that he was God seems more like Greek mythology or some fairy tale.
The part you can’t get is that there are billions of Christians all over the world who believe in Jesus. Lots of them are geniuses, like doctors and lawyers, college professors, even scientists. You’d think if anybody would be able to see through something, it’d be scientists.
Sometimes you get really scared. You’re still young and you think if you have to go through the entire rest of your life feeling this empty and sad, it'll be pretty depressing. So why do all these people believe in Jesus? Can that many people be wrong?
That’s what makes you wonder if you missed some important piece of information about him along the way. If all these people stake their whole lives on Jesus and being Christian, there must be something more to it.
Maybe it’d be worth a couple weeks of your time just to learn some more. After all, nothing else you've tried has worked. What have you got to lose? What’s a couple weeks? What would life be like if these people were right? How would it be to finally have peace of mind, confidence, happiness, and all the things you've never been able to find?
You've always prided yourself on your ability to keep an open mind. That’s why you tried all that other stuff. What do these Christians know about Jesus that you don’t? Why do they talk so much about sin and getting saved from it? What do words like grace and faith mean? Is there such a thing as life after death?
If you took a couple weeks to read up on it, to know what they know, then you could at least find out why so many people believe Jesus has the answers. What if it’s true? What if he does?
So, are you the one person this message was meant for? Are you the one who gets it? Do you understand that something this important, something that could change your life forever, has to be checked out?
Are you that person? Maybe you are. Maybe you’re not on this site by accident. Maybe everything you've been searching for all your life starts right here.
