Harmless Fun
- I'm 17 and I honestly just think Halloween is harmless fun. I view it as a night where I get to dress up with friends, hang out, walk around, and get candy. Maybe have a bonfire and make hot dogs and just enjoy myself. Several of the costumes I've had over the years are "baby," "butterfly," "football player," "hockey player," "M&M," etc. Those are hardly anything menacing. I honestly don't even know about its origins, but they don't matter to me. What matters to me is what's in my heart. I love the Lord with all my heart, and I'm in no way worshiping anything satanic by getting candy with my friends. God knows my intentions, and they aren't anything bad.

Lack of Knowledge
- Doesn't the Bible say, "My people perish for the lack of knowledge"?..It also says, "..to stay away from traditions and doctrines of men"..Christianity is about following Christ not the world. The Bible says, "There will come a day when men will say, evil is good and right is evil and that wrong is right and right is wrong". That day is now.

Does the Holiday Glorify God?
- Didn't God say, "Come out from amongst them"? Some say they are spirit-filled christians that do as the world does. "You can't submit to the kingdom of God and dabble in the kingdoms of this world".

We Don't Fear Ghosts & Pumpkins
- I am a new Christian raised in a RC faith. We as kids always celebrated. We were only too happy to dress up and receive the yummy treats we could never afford to buy.... the homemade costumes and candy were fun. I think that is the key word. FUN.... Christians in my opinion as myself celebrate the holiday as a commercial holiday has nothing to do with our faith, beliefs or anything relating to the Bible. I have had the same issue with my hubby ... he does not participate, believing that the Bible tells us not to, but if the children and community knock on your door it is also said that we should open it, does it not? It all about the fun... have fun and know your heart... Jesus knows our hearts.... Happy Halloween!

Not to Engage in Things of Witchcraft
- I am an independent fundamental baptist and greatly see issues with Halloween due to most practices go back to the pagan celtic celebrations and I believe after reading many things about the history and Christians aspects of Halloween that we should not celebrate things of this world that partake in witches and evil practices. Most halloween practices are Celtic, for example, the pumpkin. People say, "oh we are just carving a pumpkin for fun and sticking it on the porch", but the reason for that a long time ago was to scare off evil spirits. We are not to engage in things of witch craft as it says in the Bible! I mean everyone will read and twist what they take so that it is okay to celebrate this day but in my opinion I think that using this time at church with no celebrating but listening to good preaching and talk about God instead of partying is a better way to use it. My kids will not be out in costumes and begging for candy this year! I'm saved and my life is for God. I'm here temporary!

Jesus is clear on this!
- We can trust God's word and how He stands against all paganistic rituals. "Thou shalt have no other gods before me".... That is kind of clear.

About Samhain (Aka: Hallowe'en)
- Samhain is the ancient tradition going back many thousands of years, into the deepest recesses of ancient celtic ancestry. It seems to have originated from the British Isles. It has long been a time for remember loved ones who have passed. This was the last and most important harvest of the year. It was the time for culling their flocks of sheep and preparing for winter. Traditionally, the festivities were a time for celebration. Similar to having a family reunion, except this was between the living and their deceased friends and relatives. The living people would prepare salted meats for their dead kinfolk and offer some to the children. Children were often seen as the reincarnation of the ancestors. People would then gather together and ask for guidance and blessings from their ghostly kin. In later years, the Church tried to eradicate this very ancient tradition but was largely unsuccessful. So, instead they attempted to Christianize it by calling it All Saints Day.

Make it a Night of Love and Family Fun
- To start I am an agnostic. Halloween has been a lifetime of "tradition" for my family. Halloween is by far my favorite holiday. People take this holiday to the extreme when it comes to religious views. This holiday may have started by way of sacrafices and satanistic people. Most of our holidays today have roots that weren't "holy" You can make any holiday the way your own family is spiritually. Instead of decorating pumpkins, make a fall center peice or decorate accordingly. As for trick or treat, spread your word of God to each house. Have the children say "please" and "thank you" for the candy and God bless them. Dress in the manner, that they are praising God and showing the other children who dress un-holy, that halloween is another day to praise God, to show the public your love for him. Let others know that Halloween can be a night of love and family fun. Every day of our lives is our own. You can make any day or holiday to be as good or as bad as you choose.

There's a Difference
- Hi, I just wanted to let everyone who claims that Halloween is evil: you're wrong. :) The pagan holy day of Samhain is a day (and night, I suppose) of honoring relatives that have passed away and the end-of-season harvest (probably not as much today, since most of us aren't harvesting our own food!). Halloween has become a day of children running around in search of sweets and fun. Although it may have its pagan roots, Halloween in its present form is unrelated to Samhain.

C'mon
- There is a way of responding that "neutralizes" the tomfoolery about whether Hallowe'en is evil. Think of it as the night before All Saints Day and therefore a way of putting evil behind by giving it one evening in a playful way. It's a harmless way of acknowledging the existence of evil while controlling it. I come to the door of my apartment in a big witch's hat and hand out lollipops. It's all good fun and some of the costumes are very imaginative. The issue is of control. Do I control the evil or does it control me? Denying that it exists is a form of lying and therefore itself evil. Hallowe'en is like Mardi Gras -- the prelude to holiness.

I Agree with Jimmy
- All the holidays that he mentioned originated in Paganism. Christians need to remember the birth, death and resurrection of Christ both soberly and joyously.

Abstain from ALL forms of evil!
- After reading all the posts on this topic of Halloween, I have to first off, commend those few who are sticking to the truth, despite those who disagree, and am praying for those who are standing in the gap, and taking up their cross to follow the truth of Jesus Christ. I am coming from a life of huge idolatry, Halloween celebrations, and so much more, and have separated myself from several churches who on the outside look very Godly, and Holy, but in reality were going along with most of the apostate churches around the world. I followed the opinions of men, and women, over the pure truth of scripture, and wondered why I was so confused all the time, and wishy washy over the truth. Surely, the pastors were correct! Or my good friends were correct, but this wasn't so. Yes, we must separate from the masses in this apostate world, and seek the truth apart from the opinions of men. Those who stand for the pure truth of the Gospel will not be popular as Jesus has told us many times.

Hate What is Evil
- This is a ceremonial annual holy day with evil religious practices towards a false god. I must say I am strongly against participating and hosting festivities, especially in churches! That being said, only the Lord knows their heart. I hope reasons for participation in this holiday will stay up against the flames when it comes time to judge what the righteous did and why they did it. Personally, my children and I have a 5 year tradition now that we pass out chick tracts with bags stuffed full of candy for each child that knocks at our door! Wow, they come to us! We also pray over the bags and ask God to send the children and pray we have none left over or that we won't run out. I personally had previously been involved with the occult and I stay clear away from evil spirits now, far, far, far away. But they will not be allowed to enter through my open door when the children knock each year because angels are guarding me now, and the blood of Jesus protects me!

Repent!
- If you love God, turn from this pagan custom. Either you live in light or darkness. The Lord Almighty does not like the lukewarm, he will vomit you. Repent!

Celebrate Why?
- Even before I became a believer, I didn't celebrate All Hallows Eve, Christmas, or Easter, because of the roots of these days, however, I don't force the way I feel on others. I just don't participate. My husband is a strong believer in Christ and he doesn't see anything wrong with it. He sees it as a great way to do outreach.
