Dedicate 2008 to Reading Through the Bible
"But why?" I hear you asking. Spending time in God's Word, reading his revelation to mankind is one of the most important essentials in the daily life of a Christian. It is how we get to know God personally and intimately. Just think about this: God, the Creator of the Universe, wrote a book to you. He wants to communicate with you on a daily basis!
"But how? I've tried before and never made it past Leviticus!" This is a common complaint. Many Christians don’t know where to get started or how to go about this seemingly daunting undertaking. The answer is—a daily reading plan! Bible reading plans are designed to help you work your way through the entire Word of God in a focused and organized way. All you have to do is stick with it each day, reading for 15-20 minutes.
"But I'm not a reader!" If you struggle with reading, I have a couple of great suggestions. The GoBible, a portable audio device containing the full Bible text, has a wonderful "Hear in a Year" program. It's a "Bible in a Year" listening plan that leads you through the complete Bible in 365 days. You can easily track your progress through with the GoBible's daily program. Each segment is divided into 12-15 minutes of listening and incorporates a variety of passages from both the Old and New Testament. Another option that might be perfect for you is The Audio Bible Dramatized CD. This fully dramatized, highly professional version allows you to experience God’s Word as though you have entered into the text. It features the complete Bible on a 64 CD set with fully orchestrated background and sound effects.
With these suggestions, and the tips offered below, you have no reason not to succeed and no excuse for not dedicating yourself to reading through the Bible in 2008!

Wonderful post. For the past three years this has been my new years resolution and I’ve yet to get through a full week. Yet I have written extensively on the Bible. Own one of the most beautiful Biblical domain names www.LightoftheWorld.com and believe it or not think I am the chosen one. Yet, I’ve never read the entire old testament. Go figure? I think I can do the GoBible or another audio program. Thanks again for getting me to commit to this task.
A couple more good audio Bibles are The Bible Experience and The Listener’s Bible and you can get them in different translations and in MP3 format as well.
Reading the whole bible is such a worthwhile thing to do indeed. I actually just created a website/project to encourage people to do that very thing! biblein2008.com
