Welcome to Verse of the Day!

Today's Bible Verse:

Psalm 8:2
Out of the mouth of babies and infants, you have established strength because of your foes, to still the enemy and the avenger. (ESV)

Today's Inspiring Thought: From the Lips of Babies

While the English Standard Version is one of my favorite Bible translations, I find this verse easier to understand in the New International Version: "From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise because of your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger."

Here David observes that even from the weakest, most innocent of instruments—a tiny baby—the Lord has ordained spontaneous praise. As we've seen in prior meditations, the weakness of a child's worship allows the strength of God to shine forth. Again, this passage demonstrates a paradox of the Lord's kingdom—our great God can put our most ferocious enemies to shame by the praise-filled voice of lowly infants.
