Readers Respond: Who Has Inspired You the Most in Your Christian Life?

By , About.com Guide

Who are your heroes of faith? When I considered the question, I thought of several people who have made a giant impact on my life as a believer. I feel privileged to have had many spiritual role models—godly men and women who have inspired me to grow as a Christian. But I must admit, my parents made the biggest impact in leading me to a relationship with Jesus Christ. When I was 17, Mom and Dad "found Jesus." And without applying any pressure, their remarkable transformation made me want to know God, read the Bible, attend church, and eventually ask Jesus Christ to be my Savior.

So, who has inspired you the most in your Christian walk? Is it a character from the pages of the Bible, a famous Christian in history, or someone you've personally known? Tell us about your heroes of faith.

Saint Thérèse

She is my faith hero and proves that anyone can help the world solely by doing little things. While she was alive she inspired her family and her sisters in Christ and in death inspires many more. She is truly a role-model and my faith hero.

My Hero

My hero is the one who knows me better than I know myself, the one who let go my grievous offenses, and taught me to let go even when it was difficult for me, to forgive myself. How I desire to know you more and see you face to face, my hero -- Jesus.

My First Hero

The Lord is my hero. I have some here on earth that have inspired me. They are Billy Graham, Charles Stanley, and my grandfather. I know they are men of God. They have faith in the Lord and I know they lived and live for the Lord. I say lived and live because two are still alive and my grandfather has gone on to be with our Lord and our Savior.

Ezekiel Guti

Ezekiel Guti of Zimbabwe is my hero. Born in poverty in a polygamous family in a lowly village in Chipinge, he never obtained good education or any church to worship in his young life in the early 30s. But Jehovah visited him regardless, and the holy spirit enabled him to learn the English language. With such a humble background he has preached in over 100 nations and brought thousands to Christ. In Zimbabwe he has the largest growing church. I am humbled by the faithfulness of God when I hear him preach and read the story of his life.

Real Blokes, Real Heros

The men of FGB are real blokes who have experienced God and share their experiences with others. My heroes are from the Chinchilla and Toowoomba chapters.

My God is My Hero

My faith hero in my life is only God ... since I grew up without my real parents, He is the one who provides all my needs in life. And I love God so much. More than my life, my friends, and my parents. He is the Lord I value most.

A Hero Forever

Only a true hero remains a hero forever. A hero is not made by circumstances but is discovered by the situations. My hero endured pain because He saw my health, suffered loss because He saw my wealth, lost His life because He saw my life. Not that I had health, wealth and life, but He wanted to give all that to me. My hero died in a way no one can ever boast of. My hero died at a place where no one can say with a smile. My hero died in a manner suitable for the cursed. All this because He wanted me to boast, smile and be blessed in His death. No greater love than this, a friend to die for his friend. Jesus, you are my hero forever! At the cross I see your shouts of grace. Today, I stand in unmerited favor because of what you did on the cross. It was all for me.

Strong Against All Odds

My hero of faith is Pastor Mannette Chaba. She is the woman who stood strong against all odds. Her level of faith in God was amazing.

My Hero - Teen Pastor

My hero presently is my teenage pastor. I was a teenager in college and he was my college pastor. He was 23 and allowed God the use of his giftings and blessed me and so many other people immensely. He taught me a lot of the things I know about character. He taught me the beauty of one being fully submitted to God and the Holy Spirit. My mission in life is to be submitted to the Holy Ghost and not let any of self show, but allow Jesus to speak through me daily. Wherever God leads, I will go. His name is Tim Grage.

My Husband Changed My Life

The person who has had the most impact on my relationship with God is undoubtedly my husband. Ever since we met about 4 years ago, he has really shown me what it truly means to be a Christian. Although I was born into a Christian family and was raised in church, I never really had much understanding and I took the wrong path in my teenage years and early 20's. Even at my worst, I never doubted the existence of God, but I didn't know truly who He is until my husband helped me to open my heart and seek. J has a unique gift of being able to speak the truth and people listen to him when they wouldn't listen to anyone else. Even in high school he had this gift and has helped many people. I thank God for him and I am so blessed to be married to this wonderful man, and to finally be able to truly live and know God!

My Hero of Faith

For the glory of the Lord, I count it a blessing to have known Prophet Dr. Edward David Owuor. Though we haven't interacted personally, I have never seen in my entire life on earth a man who loves Jesus Christ this much. Not that there isn't, only that I have not seen one yet. His obedience, humility, submission, love, courage, gentleness, boldness, may the Lord be blessed. He serves the Lord faithfully and rebukes sin without fear or favor. He only takes the side of the Lord even if it means remaining alone. He actually follows the steps of Jesus Christ and fully walks in the Spirit. He has God as his only friend and he is a friend of God! This is the kind of christian I would always desire and strive to be.

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, has inspired me a lot through his teaching of the gospel of Christ. He has shown me how easy it is to serve God without stress, and how to live life without struggling up and down in life, but be victorious in Christ. The upward and forward life only. Chanting the cause of my life with the words of God, by saying the words of God to myself and in anything I want to change, I do it by the word of God. All this Pastor Chris has made known to me, and I have put it to work. I has produced results for me.

The word of God and my pastor Rev. J.O. Okorie encouraged me.

Christ is Life Eternal

He is the Holy Spirit of the living God (my comforter). He is the one that inspired my new life. (John 14:26; John 1:12; Romans 8:14.) Christ is life eternal, peace and joy.

Joanne

Like many other faithful people, I am amazed by Jeanne D'Arc. She was given a mission. Not an ordinary mission, but to recover the city of Orleans and make the French Prince a King. She fulfilled these magnificent duties fully. God must have been with her. She should have stopped at this point, but she wanted to achieve more at Paris, so she became captive. But that added to her fame, if anyone reads the proceedings of her trial arranged by the English. I love this young French lady. Her story is so great. And she is very appealing. She let me know her nickname in a miraculous way, so there is a bond between her and me. It is good to know there is a friend up there near God. I think she is willing to help me here on Earth.
